Recap: BUVCG Research Fellowship Information Session
Application Due Thursday 11pm
Hi all,
Thanks to everyone who joined our BUVCG Research Fellowship Info Session and for those who couldn’t make it, here’s a full recap so you can still apply and get involved. (Info slides attached here)
How We’ll Be Researching
Every company analysis follows a clear, repeatable structure, inspired by real venture capital investment memos.
📎 You can check out the example research memo here : [Canva Memo Link]
We’ll break down each company by:
Founding story
Thesis
Product
Market & competition
Key opportunities
Key risks
Conclusion
First Project: Prediction Markets
Our first project this semester focuses on the rise of prediction markets and where they are going
Polymarket Team : Dissecting Polymarket story, products, and risks.
Kalshi Team : Dissecting Kalshi story, products and risks
Broader Markets Team : Exploring where prediction markets are going - Is it the future of forecasting or just a gambling site in disguise
Why This Matters
The way we’ll dissect companies mirrors how venture capital analysts and investors write investment memos meaning you’ll gain the exact analytical and writing skills used in VC, private equity, and startup research.
If you’re interested in breaking into venture capital, strategy, or research roles, this experience will give you a massive edge plus published work you can show to employers.
You’ll also have the flexibility to work on both team and individual projects. If you’d like to individually dissect a private tech company that aligns with your personal interests or internship goals, you’re encouraged to do so. The BUVCG Research cohort will provide resources, guidance, and feedback to help refine your analysis and strengthen your writing before publication.
What’s Ahead
Fellows selected this semester will become Senior Fellows next semester, leading new research cohorts under them.
We’re also planning to expand into podcasts next term — interviewing founders, investors, and policy experts around our research themes.
